It's unlikely that Nikon will share any information unless they have absolutely no choice. Saving face is very important to the Japanese people. Recent events should give you some insight on this. While western companies operate in a similar way, think BP, they are driven solely by financial motives. Japanese management are guided by both financial and cultural values which severely limit what they will disclose. It's likely that the CEO of Nikon Imaging has not been informed of the issue.
