With modern chip designs the noise & DR disadvantages of small pixels are less than they used to be, but they have not disappeared. To get noise down you often need to downsample, and who wants the hassle?

Question, how do you use pictures from your current camera? Can you display all the MP on your monitor? If no ( ), insert the fact that you downsample anyway.

And for printing, there is no need to downsample either way. Displaying size is what matters and if it doesn't change, noise doesn't have to be visibly worse (normally isn't) and defail can be higher (often is).
