I took some shots of my own pond today (I usually keep the algae less than but I saved it for these test shots).

First with my iPhone. Interestingly the algae look pretty reasonable but the other foliage is much too yellow.

Then two shots with my K-5; first with the lens bare, then with CPL. AWB. The greens look too vivid and too green.

Finally the CPL shot PPd to get the algae looking right.

The iPhone shot shows that modern P&S cameras are better than old ones for this type of shot but you need something a bit more sophisticated for full colour control.
