As usual, Thom's D800/800E book goes far beyond basic guides by providing information not just on function, but also on why a particular function exists and how best to use it. And yes- while some of the info (particularly in the beginning) is Nikon 101 review for those of us who have used Nikon gear for years, there are literally hundreds of helpful and practical suggestions designed to help users get the most possible from the camera. And I am only 1/3 of the way through the almost 900 pages!

While "humbleness" has never been his strong point, in my mind he is an absolute Nikon expert. I just wish that Nikon paid more attention to his criticisms and suggestions.
