There we go. An f/4 lens produces the same luminous flux per unit area as another f/4 lens. Not total amount of light, as you assert. The same amount of light makes it to the sensor per unit area . This is not the same as what you said - the same amount of light makes it to the entire sensor.

I'm sorry but "per unit area" is the same thing as "each photosite". Let me clarify, each photosite means each photoreceptor which essentially means the same thing, ignoring the pixel pitch differences and assuming that is fixed.
