D800 focussing problems -- unsure wannabe customer wants advice
11 months ago
|
Greetings... my plan was to buy a D800 by the end of the 1st half of 2012.
Alas... the left-focusing debacle has made me keep my $$$ in my purse. I will not buy a $3000 camera that has such a ridiculous design defect (yes... I do have those lenses that seem to provoke the bug). And, I understand it, a defect that is not simply fixable by updating the firmware. Why should I buy a camera that I know in advance, will (probably) have to be sent to the manufacturer for 'repair', and that seemingly at my expense! NFway!
My AMAZON is now on 24 hour delivery for the D800... tempting... but... frankly, I am scared.... and I suspect many are... waiting in the wings, like me, for NIKON to offer a perspective (like 'all models now in stock have the focusing bug removed'), before we buy.
Advice please?
