Hence, once again, it isn't stealing. It's copyright infridgement. Only RIAA propaganda would have you believe that those things are one and the same. Stealing requires rivarly. For it to be theft, you would've to rob someone else of said e-book by downloading it, something that isn't the case. You're making a copy of it, not removing it from someone else.

Sorry, you are splitting hairs. Forget the RIAA, only a petulant and immature child would claim that this is not stealing. You are taking something you didn't pay for. That is stealing. Your concept of requiring "rivalry" to have "theft" is ludicrous. Under your theory, for example, sneaking into a concert is perfectly acceptable, since you're not taking anyone else's place. What about software theft? Under your theory, shoplifting a copy of Photoshop Elements from Costco is a crime, but pirating a copy is not theft. Nonsense.
