This a completely false argument. A pdf is a digital document, easily duplicated at ZERO cost. If you steal from a store you have removed it from their inventory and cost them money to replace it.

Sensible people are realising this now. The age of selling digital content is dead. Authors like Seth Godin give away books for free and make money from other things, using the books as publicity.

This is pure and unadulterated nonsense. Do you know how much labor, sweat, and expense goes into producing this "digital document"? And do you understand that the pricing of this document is determined by a forecast of volume sales? The fact that it is easily duplicated at "zero cost" completely ignores the massive investment in time, energy, and expense that went into producing it in the first place. If you don't agree that a "digital document" is worth $30, then you are free to look elsewhere for the content. But don't be a maggot and steal what is not rightfully yours and try to justify it later by thinking you are entitled to it just because it is "digital."
