I am not a sensor expert but it seems the primary advantage of dropping the AA filter entirely is the good high ISO performance. See the ISO 6400 and ISO12800 results comparing to other APS-C sensors

there's no way they could have pulled it off without some major differentiating factor, which must be skipping the AA filter.

it's a pretty cool side effect. i guess it's not as easy to market it as such. funny how they tout some kind of resolution advantage, which doesn't even show up.

ahh well we all know fujifilm isn't the most brilliant in their overall execution, but their tech is pretty sweet
