The Markins Q3TR-Q is the head for your tripod

The RRS BH-25 is a distinct compromise in function to get the smallest, lightest head that still is strong enough to hold a Canon 5D type camera. I put the BH-25 on my Gitzo GT1550t and use it with a Canon 550D, however.

For your tripod legs, you made the correct call. The Markins is the best mate I could find for the larger traveler tripods. You should be very happy with it - once you get it to stop unscrewing itself!

My Benro C-2680 legs fold up around the Markins head with one corner of the clamp extending only about 0.25 in above the feet. The Markins seems to be a very good head, I only hope I get comfortable with the tension and panning lock knobs.

The RRS BH-55 has spoiled me.
