Photoshop's still-missing feature

The feature I've been waiting for in both Photoshop and InDesign ever since CS3 is such an obviously useful one that I'm amazed it's still lacking.
If I select a tiny detail somewhere and zoom in for a closer look using only the keyboard, I want the zoom to take me to that detail , not to the centre of the photo or document as happens now.
Yes, I can zoom directly to a detail by using the magnifier and mouse in combination, or the magnifier and the touchpad, but for speed's sake I'd rather keep my hands on the keys and just type Command-+ (or the Windows equivalent). Since the detail's already selected, why doesn't content-awareness take me straight there in any zoom, no matter how the zoom is done?
