I have checked my raws and jpegs outputs from my K100D Super.

Raws are invariably between 9 and 11 megs each, while jpegs (Photoshop setting is 12 - max quality) range anywhere from 230 kB (moon shot, lots of black) to 3.55 MB (very detailed and sharp macro shot).

My camera's RAW compression is not very effective, apparently, but the compression (and thus file size) in jpgs files depends heavily on the quantity and type of detail that's in the picture.

I haven't verified the distribution, but I suspect you can calculate an average value very easily.

A really crude method would be, for instance, to select a folder with, say, a hundred photos, see the space they take on the disk and divide by the number of photos.
