I also have the pro version and it is great, but on the distance I did 25x the focal length not 50x, what I am wondering is when you calibrate at that distance and say you photograph something much closer doesn't that mess up the calibration?

You decide the distance, but there is a target setup screen which will give you an indication when you are at a good distance (basically to keep the target image within a rectangle that appears in a live view screen on your computer). It also does target validation, so it checks that it can read the target properly. The target it uses is a QR code looking image, with focus rings in the middle.

It will show the AF distance it detects and give a general recommendation, but the best is probably around 50x the focal distance as recommended by Canon. Usually the actual shooting distance is longer, so I used a bit longer distance for wide angle, but for 100mm+ it obviously starts to get hard to get a good distance indoors.
