for events - as said - the 70200 is replacing the 85+135+200 now. it works.
the new 2470 could have a similar potential...

i still would take at least 1 fast prime with me. in most of the cases it's the 50L.

I see what you mean about the 70-200. A bit expensive for me for the moment And it looks so heavy... I would love to compare it to the 135mm to see if the difference is that small. I would still miss the shallow DOF I guess, but you can't use it on so many shots, so the versatility of the lens wins there, right ? Maybe 16-35 - 50mm - 70-200mm would be a good combo. Or the new 24-70 II . But what a budget... I will keep working with my primes for the time being

i was principally refering to event shooting.

the new 70200 is an excellent long-term investment IMO, also for art and sport stuff. for longer shootings i use a monopod.
the 1635-50-70200 is a good idea.

but i prefer the 1635 for close and mediate distances. if the shooting scene is a bit more far away, the 2470 is better. the new one is promising here.
so my solution for events:
2470-50-70200.

the 135 will allways be cool, but if you need to deliver, the 70200 is a much better solution.
