This is interesting. I have been reading the various forum reports of the lens AF not working after the lens had been manually pushed back in. In every case, remounting the lens clears the problem. What is odd is that I have actually been trying to make this happen with my 40mm STM and my 7D and it doesn't happen. The lens AF works just fine. Don't get me wrong, I'm not upset that all is working as it should:-) But I am wondering if it could be something that is a body dependent problem. Or, even though the lens is new to the market, it could be a production run issue that has been corrected already. Either way, its a great little lens that I'm glad I picked up even though I really didn't need it!
