It makes sense, but how much difference it makes and in how percent of shooting conditions? I think it is more of marketing than anything else, as I don't hear Nikon shooters complain about their performance loss in hot days.
Park a black car and a white car side by side in the hot sun for an hour. Then go and lay your hand flat on the hood of each one.
