Nikon 85mm f1.8G for IR

I'm just getting involved in IR photography and am using a Hoya R72 filter on my old AI 50mm f1.4 with my D700 to see if I want to take the plunge and have my D80 converted. I'd like to get t he 85mm f1.8 because I want a short telephoto for snaps and use it for continued experience with IR using the R72, while I decide.

Has anyone used this lens for IR? IF so, was there a problem with a central hotspot?
