Attention Lightroom 4 and Sigma lens users.
Jul 3, 2012

This is also posted on the Retouching forum.

On page 252 of Martin Evening's Lightroom 4 Book, he states the following:

"It should also be mentioned here that the independent lens manufacturer Sigma

was helpful in that it willingly shared its lens data with Adobe in order to help Adobe produce better lens correction profiles for the entire Sigma range of lenses."

This brings up a few questions and statements.

1. have any sigma lens (not necessarily camera) users noticed any improvements in their edits when using Adobe's new process 2012, particularly in regards to lens issues i.e. chromatic aberrations, fringe issues etc.etc.? Particularly when editing files created while using sigma lenses.

2. why haven't other independent 3rd party lens manufacturers shown the same cooperation? It would seem advantageous to have ones products be associated with the premier photo editing suite of products, LightRoom,Photoshop,Elements, The Cloud etc.etc..

3. will this lead sigma to consider adding DNG to their choice of raw profiles in their cameras ? This would certainly make their camera offering more attractive. any case I believe sigma should be applauded for doing the sensible and possibly the correct(?) thing. It would be nice if other manufacturers of lens and camera could adopt sensible industry standards and behavior.
