shooting raw only with new 60D - and happy?
Jul 3, 2012

My new 60D is the first camera I have where I can efficiently shoot raw, and I immediately set file format to RAW, only, no Jpg.

I've imported into Lightroom, using convert to DNG, which is still RAW.
And before processing, or anything, images are looking great - Dell IPS monitor.

So, I'm confused reading all the recent comments on this board about people ALSO shooting JPEG so they can preview their work on a laptop in a hotel room during a trip or if there don't want to do any processing...

Why do I see good images in Raw right off the bat?

Maybe my expectations are too low? - but seems to me the unprocessed raw is really nice... Perhaps that will change as I get better at processing and will become more adept at seeing the differences between pre- and post?

Canon EOS 60D
