It's not the French, but the USADA (U.S. Anti-Doping Agency) that is taking it's turn. And it's unimpressed that federal prosecutors filed no charges after two years of investigation since it is USADA's job to clean up sport, and not to prove something beyond a reasonable doubt.

In the meantime, people's lives and careers are at stake. Merely because USADA has brought charges, Lance is prohibited from competing in Ironman Triathalons, and Johan Bruyneel was prohibited from managing his team in the Tour de France going on right now.

One of USADA’s members, Clark Griffith, told the AP that he “can’t wait” to see what the arbitration panel thinks of the evidence. USADA says it has evidence that Lance was taking performance-enhancing drugs while winning the Tour de France from 1999-2005.

Lance finds it strange that USADA could examine 16 years of cycling and four teams, alleging a wide-spread conspiracty to dope, but Lance is the only one charged.

Lance has also gone on the attack against Griffith, tweeting that Griffith had earlier this year been charged with indecent exposure:

“Wow @usantidoping can pick em. Here's . . . 1 of 3 Review Board members studying my case,” he tweeted, linking to an online story about Griffith.

In that matter, a 24-year-old student reported Griffith unzipped his pants in front of her on a St. Paul street. Griffith entered an “Alford plea” in that matter, which means he did not admit doing anything wrong but acknowledged that prosecutors have enough evidence for a jury to convict him.

Griffith’s sentencing is scheduled for July 26. He claims he's innocent and entered the plea only to avoid a trial that would embarrass his family.

I would expect Griffith to be more understanding about being innocent but nonetheless charged with a crime.
