we go again, Round II.

I printed about 2 dozen prints today, mostly 11x14 on glossy, prints are coming out great including the last one I printed with no problems. I had to refill a couple of carts (Light black and yellow) during that whole printing process, but not the Vivid Magenta. All of a sudden when I go to print another I get "Replace Ink Cartridge" on the vivid magenta and the panel on the R3000 has a big red X as shown in the 1st photo. Dinner was ready and I decided to tend to this after I eat. When I opened the ink tray lid and removed the VM cart, ink went all over the place. On other carts, the printer, and lucky I had the print tray open with a paper towel over it. I quickly cleaned up the mess from the other carts and printer but inside the pocket where the cart goes was loaded with ink. After I got out most of the excess ink in the pocket (2nd photo) and cleaned off the cart (3rd photo) I refilled the cart and put it back in the printer. Still had the big red X!

Is it possible that the battery in the cart may shorted out from the ink? I reset the cart but it still is not recognized. I don't have another VM cart on hand to see if it's the cart or the printer.
I'm on another deadline but I have a couple days to spare.
