You should check YouTube for AF speeds on a T3i (or T2i) and see what you think. The T2i I have now is not bad, really. I don't have anything to compare but the D5000 I had before was a bit slower, I think.

I don't think the 5N will be your cup of tea if you want fast AF or DSLR like shot to shot times (at all - which is true of most mirrorless models with few notable exceptions). And unlike most I find a lot to dislike about the 5N sensor, even at low ISO, like bluish highlight glow and clipping with shallow shadows. (IMO)

If older Minolta lenses aren't something you're interested in, you prefer optic VF over EVF (many different opinions on that) or want the widest native lens selection made specifically for that series of camera I'd say go Canon. It will also probably yield better image quality/DR (although I'm sure Sony fans will be quick to deny that).
