Seeking advice on filters

I just received my D800 and I am very happy with it. I have a few DX lenses from my D7000 but I ordered a new Nikon 24-70 f2.8 to take full advantage of my D800. I am not a professional but I am a hobbyist and I like to take photos of landscape when we travel and of our new baby. As a matter of habit I always buy a skylight filter when I get a new lens just to protect it from being scratched but I was also thinking that it might be useful to have a polarizing filter or perhaps even something else. What do people here recommend? The prices on filters can very wildly.
