I have had my A57 for a few weeks and I have a Tamron SP 17-50 f/2.8 and a Tamron SP 70-300. I got the 17-50 ($320)from a wedding photographer on eBay and I got the 70-300 from Amazon marketplace ($337). Both are used/like new but the risk for saving money is the lack of warranty. I did a lot of research on blogs and YouTube reviews. I gravitated towards personal reviews versus company-sponsored reviews as they were less likely to influenced financially for the products they are reviewing. I decided the Tamron SP series has the features that I was looking for in a lens.
Good luck in your search. Do sound research prior to purchasing and you will be happy with your decision. I have been suckered into the cheap models of lenses before and it was embarrassing when a friend with a point and shoot could lock on to a bird and me with my expensive DSLR could not.
