why so green?

I posted this in the retouching forum, but wondered if maybe it was better asked here. This is the problem;
I belong to a ponder's forum and there's a question about why the pics are 'more green than my eye sees it' in regards to taking pics of their ponds. I don't have any good examples of my own, so I'm posting an example pic to show what this poster is inquiring about. He states that the pic is a lot more green (the pond area where the fish are) than what his eye is seeing. Is there a reason for this or is it just 'that's the color it really is and the human brain is compensating. Just wondering so I might be able to relay factual information and a possible fix/adjustment. Working in PP, this could be done by selectively desaturating but I hope that maybe there's a fix novices could replicate without having to go into PP.
Thanks for any help.
Michael
