Even if you're not using them all at first it keeps your options open.
The last 2 computers i've built had these 5in3 bays.
1. They work well, removing drive from bay requires taking out 4 screws; no big deal.
2. They have fan in the back to cool drives.
3. they take 4-pin atx and SATA power connectors.
4. kind of useless for laptop users since there is no ac/dc converter.
installing was a pain; the aluminum rails in the case between the 5.25 slots get in the way; had to dremmel them off.
