There are several companies as above who do bags and camera straps with wire inside the strap to prevent this.

However, you run the risk of loosing more than your bag if the thieves are serious - I have read of people having hands cut off to steal gold watches by a machete wielding passenger on a moped and people who refuse to hand over bags being stabbed instead.

Better to have good insurance and loose a camera than risk injury like that. I use a wrist strap on my XP 1 and put it away when not using it and I use Black Rapid straps on my DSLRs when working with those.

It won't stop them if they really want it - I lost $13,000 worth of Nikon stuff from inside a bag on which my feet were resting as I slept in a train in India and they managed it without waking me!

It's just stuff - get insurance and relax.

Plan to travel in the far east, could be Saigon, Hanoi, Beijing and Shanghai with my Fuji X-Pro1 probably with three lenses and a flash unit. I have read warnings about having cameras and camera bags hanging from straps in major cities. Locals riding motor bikes race up beside you and one of the bikers holds your bag at length while the other one cuts the strap. Anyone with a remedy, advice, experience, guidance, etc.,
