What is the distance to the new volcanoes in the middle of the caldera? Trying to get a feel for how large this is.

-> the grey/brownish volcano in the middle left is the Bromo and is still active (well, it was not when we were there but had an eruption in 2011). The green one next to it is the Batok (extinguished). The caldera is about 10km in diameter (you can see the east and west edges on the picture). The active volcano behind the Batok is the Semeru, which is the highest volcano of Java and is outside the Tengger caldera (at about 20km from the Bromo). Our viewpoint was at the edge of the caldera at about 3.5km from the Bromo.
