D700 and 85mm 1.4G

Thanks Suntan for your comments. I've taken a lot more photos with this lens of various subjects at different apertures but not too many portraits.

If it were you taking pictures of the same subjects in the same lighting conditions, how would F5 improve & be more inspired? You pointed out the problem, a solution would be even more appreciated.
