D800 has freed me from using Grad ND filters

Most of the time anyway, finding I do not need them due to the 14.4 stops of dynamic range. With the D800 you need to be more careful to watch the highlights than the D700, which could pull back more from this area. With the 800 I find as long as you nail the highlights or aren't more than approx 2/3 max over you can pull them back and pull basically everything out of the shadows to get your exposure with practically the full DR on the scene. In most shots all I loose is a tiny disc area of the sun. Infact the only filter's I'd use now are 10 stops occasionally. This is really where this camera blows the Canon 5d3 out of the water. It is an incredible sensor with the most beautiful colour I've seen. Alot of the feel from the raw's reminds me of film's fidelity...
