How do you explain the differences in the Blue Jay photos

especially the ones taken at 1/2500. The grass clearly is in focus behind and in front of the bird. How can that be? You just say it's OOF and that's it. You also say that 1/1600 is fast enough to stop most any motion. It is DEFINITELY not fast enough to stop many, many small birds in flight. Look at the photos and explain what's going on.


VERY VERY unlikely. 1/1600 is MORE than fast enough to stop most any motion. The shots that you are showing that are OOF, are just that - OOF.

SS is NOT the problem for the OP.
