10-bit monitor any advantage for printing?
The choice will be between an 8-bit per channel IPS monitor versus a 10-bit per channel IPS monitor.
The monitor will be calibrated. The photo will be printed with a profile for the chosen paper and printer (Epson R2880). The paper will be good quality but not extravagant, for example, a Red River luster or Canson Baryta.
The Pentax K-5 camera generates 14-bit raw files, and Raw Therapee 4 and Picture Window Pro process at 16 bits. Printing will be done from a 16-bit TIF file.
The 10-bit monitor might display more vivid colors and finer gradations of color than the 8-bit, but have you obtained better prints?
