I know nothing about the Sigma except what I have just scanned in a few reviews. Its lack of hsm seems to be a main flaw but the consequences will depend on what you shoot. I have the Tammy and I use it for a whole host of purposes: nature closeups, wildlife, action/sports, etc. What seems to differentiate the Tammy from the Sigma according to the review is quality from 200mm plus. I shoot with my lens at and around 300mm wide open an awful lot and it does very well. So, my advice: don't cheap out on a lens purchase! From my perspective, another great thing about the Tamron is its stabilization. It works wonders. You might not regret it now. And maybe not tomorrow . . . Here's my latest upload:
