What are the pluses and minuses for shooting each? If media space is not an object, what is better to shoot at?

If one shot RAW how much post produiction work does one have to do in order to distribute the picture web sites or to print ?

For raw what computer sw does one need to process RAW ?

Assume entry level dslr (such as a T3or 4i or possibly a D5100) for a newbie in dslr.

Besides the already commented advantages of RAW, there is also the available software development advances through time, that can be used to improve your shots. For instance, I have some old RAW shots from 2008, which developed today with LR4.1, result in pictures which seem to have been taken with a totally different camera.
