Walkabout prime for a 5D
Jun 25, 2012

I need some help from the clever people who are around.

I've got a m4/3 and a 5D system (which gives me tremedous flexibilty and allows me to have an opinion on everthing).

Normaly I take out the EPL2 with the 20mm pancake when I go away with my 5D, but am considering the crazy idea of just having a (small) prime lens for it instead. I've got the 50mm F1.8, but rarely take it out as I find it's too limiting for my main use of a fast prime: environmental pictures of friends/family inside. I've obviously seen the 40mm STM: which looks amazing, but I'm not sure if 2.8 is worth it, given the 35mm F2.0 is a bit wider and a stop faster...

Reviews of the 35mm seem to sit on the fence, so here's the question: is the 35mm lens OK, will it produce acceptable (focused) shots wide open etc, because if not I'm off to buy a pancake (or maybe learn to use the 50mm properly)
