If you load all your raw files into your raw converter and batch process them at default settings.... have you really done any better than just using jpegs?

The whole purpose of using raw files is to give you maximum control over your images. But, you could automate the process by simply accepting the default settings.

I just wonder why anyone would do that?

Does it create a better jpeg than the camera will, even if you accept all defaults and make absolutely no decisions yourself?
