Either or ...both have their plusses and minuses ...no help, I know, sorry ...but don't discount the fun factor and peace of mind of a waterproof ...I used nothing but SLR's for years, than got a waterproof for Songkran in Thailand, buying the cheapest one I could thinking this thing is gonna be a piece o crap anyway ...and it is a piece o crap ...I named it little crappy ...but guess what, it is so small, so fun, and so non worrisome that I haven't used the SLR since. If I were kayaking, I would want to enjoy the activity and not have to worry about a camera.

Believe me, I know, IQ IQ IQ ...but man are these little crappies fun. So fun in fact, that I find myself taking more photos and actually getting more memorable shots than with my SLR ...just some food for thought.

And if so, how did the pictures turn out?

Torn between this & the Olympus XZ-1. And I know that neither is waterproof, but they both have better quality than the waterproof cameras, and a fast 1.8 aperture lens.

Tempted to buy both & return the inferior one after a test trip.

It's almost all opinion folks, gonna have to deal with it.

Equipment: 1 Finger, an eye, a camera body and 50mm (equivalent) lens, half a brain, and a lot of money leftover to spend on using that equipment
