That's just fill light, and since the image has the information in it, you can do that really well.

Raw comes into its own as it records detail not in a JPEG, so highlight recovery or getting more shadow information, or more accurately playing with WB, or recovering fine detail if cropping,printing large is where RAW scores highly.
