Sorry to hear that you are having troubles with Canon customer service and your 7D. I am one of the lucky ones I guess in the fact that my 7D has no issues of any kind. In fact, I have not had to send anything in to Canon for service in the several years since switching from Nikon. In fact, one of the reasons I switched was what I felt Nikon's qaulity control and inability to fix things right (two lenses with back/front focus issues each took a couple of trips to get fixed right) has in recent years been lacking. I say that as having been a loyal Nikonian with film and digital for over 20 years. The fact that I haven't had a need to use Canon's service department is why I can't (and have no right to) comment on how good or bad the service is. However, I did notice that you mentioned using the Tamron 17-50 f2.8 non VC. I am just wondering how many of your lenses are Canon vs. non-Canon lenses? I ask only because the Tamron is a lens I have owned in both Nikon and Canon mounts and I have to admit I found the focus with both versions to be less than perfect. I do hope you are able to get your 7D working right because as you have stated, when it works right it is a great camera.
