I just hate all those short attention span quick cuts. Probably just getting old...
While it no doubt requires a whole new skill set to shoot video, editing is key to producing something watchable. In spite of YouTube democratizing video, it is still the networks and cable that is the standard when people judge your work. Even when the content is horrible, production values are generally high.
In a way, it is as if the era of 8mm home movies has returned and everyone has a camera. Back then any cartoonist seeking a subject for the Sunday strip could do a send-up of the guy trying to get friends over to watch, and all the excuses they use to avoid this form of torture.
