Once again, that's most likely because Amazon looking at the numbers decided closing pre-orders was the most prudent thing to do, and panicked consumers, fanned by the flames of rumor sites, raced to order from B&H before they also closed their pre-orders (which they never did).

So it appears both B&H and Adorama got the benefit of high order numbers on the front end, but on the back end they couldn't deliver. Furthermore, as Amazon is apparently not an NPS seller, they were able to apply their allotment toward chipping away at pre-orders long before B&H or Adorama could or would. JMO.
