Without doing too much research, as I value the answers I get from you guys here to be somewhat more rewarding; I'm wondering how to do the following.....

I like my blue skies, so to avoid over processing I would like to do multiple exposures.

Can I just aim the camera a bit higher to get my properly metered sky... go back down to recompose and take my shot ..... THEN .... take the same shot as normal .... THAN ..... somehow.... merge the two shots together for one nicely exposed compound shot. I hear you guys talk about this now and then and never gave it much thought.

So....is what I ask possible to do with no tripod? And if so what software would I use to do the stacking/aligning?

Thanks.
