iPad with D800

I've been searching for a way to tether a D800 to an iPad 3, but there doesn't seem to be any good solutions. All I want is to preview the shot while shooting raw.

I don't like the wifi sd card solution and would rather use a wired option.

I'm wondering how the Apple connector - HDMI cable would work out. Would you get instant feed of the playback menu onto the iPad screen? Would it be overly down sampled?
