Am I expecting too much (A77 and G70-400)
Jun 16, 2012

Just returned from a few days vacation, and have been trying out a new A77/70-400G combination. Mainly interested in birds/wildlife.

I'm not yet up to posting all the images in the most helpful way, but I'd appreciate advice on these - a small bird, quite a way away, and only able to capture the bird in the centre of the frame (where the glass should be best, yes?).

The crop (100%) has a distinct noise/granularity that I wouldn't have expected at ISO640.

The exif is below

Am I expecting too much?

I had hoped for pixel level detail, but there is so mich noise that I am wondering what I might have done wrong. Camera was set to spot AF and spot metering.

Advance thanks..
Rob
