Re: How fast is the auto focus compared to similar lenses?
In reply to R2D2, Jun 16, 2012

Dear ALL

Is the new lens Canon EF 40mm / f.28 compatible with Canon 7D?

a) In the Canon 7D manual is written that “Note that continuous focusing of a moving subject is not possible”

b) B) The description of the new 40mm, says that “The perfect companion lenses to the new EOS 650D, both models feature new stepper motor technology (STM), enabling fast, continuous focus when recording moving subjects - ensuring movies will be smoother and clearer than ever before.”

Now, for me it is not clear if:

1) The Canon 7D cannot “continuous focusing”, independent what of lens is mounted, or

2) The lenses which we had till now were not suitable for “continuous focusing”, and now, the new one, the 40mm, will give also to the Canon 7D this possibility to take movies “with continuous focusing”???

Thank you, best regards, Eugene
