Images Out of Focus/Blurry at 100%
Jun 15, 2012

Hello, I have a Nikon D7000 and two lenses; a 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 and a 70-300 f/4-5.6.

I notice that all of my images are out of focus or just blurry when viewing them at 100% and I'm not sure why. Even getting over 50% view they start losing quality.

I've read my entire D7000 manual and have been over the focus modes sections numerous times. But, I've only been shooting since April of this year so I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. Here's what I do:

I usually use the AF-S area mode with a single focus point. I frame, I put the focus point on my subject using the directional buttons, half press the shutter it beeps, and then I take the shot.

For my 70-300 lens I always keep a shutterspeed of 1/500 or faster and on the 18-55 I use at least 1/60 or faster.

I try my best to avoid camera shake.

Here's a photo I uploaded at Flickr of a Grackle, they reduced its size a little bit but its still fairly large and you can see if you view the image at the "Large 2048" size it's blurry:

Here's another one of a friendly Scrub Jay on my porch, blurry when viewed at a large size:

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.
