agreed Hexanon 40 a cut above kit lens

Even at high ISO the Hexanon 40mm at F/4 and smaller apertures has more than one way that it's visibly border-to-border superior to the Nex kit lens at 40mm.

However will stop using the Hexanon as soon as get around to getting the Alpha 35/1.8. Which has the much more convenient behavior of staying wide open for focusing until the moment of stopped-down exposure. Even though as ProfHankD has pointed out, perhaps a bit of sharpness will be lost from the vibration of the moving aperture mechanism.

Nex kit lens, showing the admittedly unimportant but nonetheless annoying-to-photography-types ever so tiny bit of weirdness in some very corner of almost every photo (Taken at the longer focal lengths where things oughta be easy. I.e. the lens is quite satisfying at the widest angles of view.)
