Wake up call with X-pro1 on two week Europe trip.

I have the 3 lens set up with the XPro and have had the camera for awhile and know how it works but this trip was a trying one and sometimes frustrating. I shot with my son that has the Canon 7D. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it but changing lenses and waiting for the camera to turn one was a challenge. I missed so many shots that I'm used to getting because of this. One has to realize this is NOT a simple deal changing lens back and forth to get the shot you intend vs just zooming with a fast start camera. I changed the settings to not turn off but that burns the battery down faster and I carry two batteries, a must, or maybe three would be better.

A couple times I would just put on one of the lenses and just go shoot. Had fun one morning with just the 60mm. I must say the 18mm got the most work, a must have lens. The 35mm was fun at times but narrowed the field just too much for most of the shots I was doing. When you are with family and trying to not hold things up with your photography you really don't want to be changing lenses etc. My prior Europe trip I used a D300 with a 18-200 and was a happy camper. I'm still happy with it but now realize the extra work with this system. I think with more time to shoot a situation I was fine but this is very difficult when you are on the move compared with my prior experiences with my D300. I have a perfect bag, the think tank bag, holds the camera in the middle and lenses very handy but this is hardly a light way to go.

It will be a big relief to have a zoom for this kind of trip unless it's just about photography, then I love the quality of prime lenses. I've done 36 national parks and will do more and can't wait to use this 3 lens set up. Hard to beat the quality. I love to do 24x36 posters for our basement walls and will be doing at least 3 from the Xpro from this trip. BTW we visited Luxembourg, Brugge, Belgium and Paris. I have 988 shots to go through so I better shut up and get to work on them.
