unlikely, Nikon now confined to good light, no longer leads in true low light

a mile in img quality for half the price - D600.

Nikon now confined to only good light (e.g. D800, D3x),

no longer leads in true low light (D3s yes, D4, barely)

Good luck to Canon trying to sell the 2004 sensor tech from MKIII for $3500 when the D600 will be $1500-$2000 and stomp it over in img quality.

D600 will only be a compromise between two 'ok' models D800 and D4

which 5DMkIII already surpasses both in true low light at high 20+ Mp.

and we aren't even including 1Dx which surpasses the 5DMkIII at least in low light, but not in higher Mp for cleaner resolving fine details WHERE IT COUNTS.

for Nikon to settle for improving IQ in good light is great for those who shoot only in good light, and never in true low light.

this is why Nikons are not suitable for those who want what only the 5DMkIII can deliver in spades.

prices of new models typically drop for 'seasonal' sales, (special weekends, etc), so that's normal for all mfr's model, but a few don't ever drop unless a new version is around the corner.

if Canon really has just a 2004 sensor, then they should slow down and let Nikon catch up.
