At the level of magnification on-line they both look in focus to me. If you are looking at 100% and seeing a slight difference it might be due to the shutter speed. 1/100 should be OK for 42mm but the first image was at 1/500th. If my guess is correct that you were about 2.5ft away you should have a DoF of about 2-inches, which looks about right as the right shoulder in in focus but the left not.
